He didn’t understand how he’d gotten roped into this, but he had. Garbage Baby had just been acting silly, doing a little dance for treats and because of that some older woman had dragged him and his partner into another room to help brainstorm a choreography for some really annoyed looking coordinator. Ruslan trembled under the scrutiny unable to really speak. Garbage Baby did all the work pouncing around playfully and dancing to music only he could hear….until the manager started playing music. [break][break]

It went from there, and now hi mand another person were there practicing some type of choreography and adding to it. Mostly it was Garbage Baby taking the lead but still. “I-I don’t k-know if t-this is g-going ok…?” he whispered looking at the other trainer while Garbage Baby hopped around.

August's attention was glued to Taga. His buizel was giving his all for this routine and he was keeping an eye out for any last minute adjustments they could make or any mistakes that needed to be corrected. Despite his enthusiasm, he was nervous. He noticed a linoone practicing along side his buizel, bopping around like it was the most natural thing in the world. He hoped Taga was shining just as much.

(“I-I don’t k-know if t-this is g-going ok…?”)

His concentration broke for a moment. The trainer next to him seemed even more nervous than he did, and that eased his anxiety a little. "Don't worry so much," he awkwardly patted his back, "I think your pokemon there is a natural born star."

Lana rubbed his arm, smiling lightly at the other trainer pat him on the back. “Oh, t-thank you.” He said looking over at the Linoone who by now was attempting to entice the Buizel for play in the form of standing next to Taga and trying to booty bump him to the beat. “I-I think t-t-that…your B-Buizel is r-really c-c-cute.” He said, struggling to keep his voice level as his eyes darted back to the trainer. [break][break]

“I..I came h-here to s-spectate a c-c-contest a-actually…” He added. “T-Then I think G-Garbage B-B-Baby heard t-their Chimecho d-dancing and h-he got curious.” Garbage Baby was more curious than cautious which was often a problem for Lana, but perhaps that was just a side effect of being abandoned in a dumpster and then picked up by an overly affectionate 6-year-old.

August's eyes brightened and shot the other trainer a toothy smile at his compliment of Taga. Obviously this was a person of taste, even if their pokemon was distracting his buizel from the task at hand. "I'm glad you noticed,"he laughed,"We're going to take the contest world by storm!" He felt energetic sharing his goal, which he'd only ever told one other person.

"Garbage Baby? That's an interesting name; it suits him somehow though." The Linoone certainly looked fluffy and clean despite his name, but judging by his antics he must be a regular hand full. He glanced between the pokemon now doing some jig and the trainer beside him. "I'm glad he wandered in then, it's nice to talk to some new. What's your name by the way? Are you going to be around the contest scene more often? Maybe we can help each other out! Or if you're not into performing... We could spectate some shows together!" The prospect of making a friend that shared his interests seemed even greater than winning at this point, but August worried he was being a little too forward, but he's never been able to stop his mouth once he got going.

The teenager didn’t seem annoyed at all at least. That eased Lana’s nerve slightly. He nodded along with August, trying to smile while offering a soft, ‘Good luck.’ “I-I hope to s-s-see your d-debut t-then..” he managed to offer after a moment before immediately nodding once again at the redhead. “T-Thanks…he l-likes it w-well enough. I-I tr-tried to shorten it o-o-once, b-but he w-wouldn’t respond.” He laughed a little at that. [break][break]

“Uhh…” He hadn’t decided that yet. If anything, this was, like, the first time he had even set foot inside the place now that he felt clean enough to blend in with the rest of the people walking around. “I-I’m Lana. I-I don’t p-perform much…” Or at all. He thoguth it might be fun, but standing in front of a real coordinator, watching them judge their pokemon’s every move? He didn’t like this at all. He brightened up at the invitation to specate however and nodded quickly. “Y-Yes actually. I-Iwouldn’t m-m-mind t-that. T-That’s what I-I came i-in to d-do t-today actually. You?”

"Great we can spectate together then!" He smiled brightly at Lana. "A-actually I came here because I was hoping to have our choreography approved by a coordinator, but... I don't have much confidence that my amateur skills will be enough." August gave an embarrassed chuckle and looked back towards his buizel giving his all. Even though he wasn't used to chatting with people other than Finley Black and Felix Gallagher about his big dreams, he felt he could be his honest self with this person.

"Well, if I can't compete yet, I still love watching shows and getting inspiration. It would be nice to have company for once." Felix and Finley hardly ever joined him in spectating contests, and he'd been feeling the pressure of loneliness lately.

Lana couldn’t help but smile back at the trainer, nervous but his companion’s cheerfulness infectious. Perhaps it also had something to do with not having a fun conversation with another person in so long. He’s quick to agree though. “S-Sounds fun!” he said trying to bring as much energy as August. He followed the boy’s gaze to his partner pokemon before looking back at August. “W-Well, I think they l-l-look f-fine. A-And I-I think you s-should still try out f-f-for the rookie circuit.” Lana said, attempting to assure the other boy. [break][break]

“I-I’m sorry Garbage Baby and i-interrupted your t-tryouts.” He added, his head dipping as an apology. “I-I wouldn’t either. W-We can m-make a day out of it? I w-want to try my hand a-at the pokeblock m-machines too. A-And it looks l-like more f-f-fun with o-other people.” He looked over at Garbage Baby who, while trying to entire then Buizel out of their concentration, had fallen on his back and was merely slapping his tail on the floor.

August sheepishly rubbed his neck, "You think so? I've never performed before but maybe it's about time I give it a shot," he smiled widely at Lana, "And don't worry about Garbage Baby, it's nice to see Taga having fun." It was great to hear such supportive words for once, even if it was from a relative stranger. August hoped one day his brother might say something even remotely similar to him.

At the other trainer's suggestion of doing a circuit together, August lit up completely. He couldn't help himself and grabbed one of Lana's hands with both of his.

"You mean it? You really would want to?" His eyes sparkled and he added playfully, "If you say yes, you're not allowed to back out."

"O-Of course! Y-You have a r-routine and e-e-everything already. A-all you'd- you'd need is costumes." he said with a quick nod to assure the other trainer he could do it. Compared to him, Lana was still in the planning stages, if any. He hadn't even really seen a contest that many times up close before. But, it seemed like fun. He liked the idea of dressing up. Sure, it was an expensive endeavor but...he could pull some strings. [break][break]

Once again, he nodded quickly to show he was serious. He wouldn't offer if he wasn't. Maybe it was a little selfish, but it felt better to have some as loud stand next to him. Took the attention off him at least. "Y-Yes. Just s-s-say w-when. I h-have a p-p-pretty clear sche-schedule." Maybe it was a little sad he was befriending a teenager of all people, but baby steps. They might become future contestants together. It'd be nice to share thoughts on performances. As they talked, Garbage Baby barked when the music finally stopped, sitting down next to Taga and panting loudly before turning to the pokemon and giving them a friendly lick. There's a bit of excitable clapping form the manager and the coordinator, but the Linoone didn't seem to pay attention, running back to Lana to jump at him for a job well done. He let out a small laugh before looking over at the coordinator. "Ah, h-hope he we u-u-useful!" he said as he picked up the fat pokemon for a hug. Turning to August he added, "I-I can g-g-give you m-my phone nu-number and y-you can text m-me."
